1 A thousand words 千言万语 而非“一千个单词”
e.g: 花瓶摔得粉碎 The vase shattered into a thousand pieces.

希腊神话里，丽妲与宙斯生了一个女儿，名叫海伦。由於海伦长得实在太美了，被派里斯王子抢走。海伦的丈夫在羞愤之馀，发动了上千艘船的兵力去营救海伦。所以才会说a face could launch a thousand ships。这就是这句歌词的典故。这就是<荷马史诗>里的特洛伊战争(TROY)关於斯巴达的皇后海伦(Helen)貌美的形容。因为Helen的美貌，才有了这场战争。所以说a face launch a thousand ships.
launch：下水，发射，开始，升天，汽艇....
launch 它做名词，也就是指：a motorboat with a deck or half deck 汽艇
a face could launch a thousand ships
here “launch” means: get going, give impetus to 引起，发动，成为…的导火索
Helen 的美貌引发了数千艘轮船的对峙，引发了一场特洛伊战争。这里还不是launch最直接的意思。我们再来看几个例句：

revolve: turn around an axis or a center, move in a orbit 循环 绕着圈旋转

Spin: 旋转，疾驰，打转儿
e.g: The revolving sign was spinning round and round in the wind.

Revolve 是绕着一个中心旋转，而spin 则是指原地以自我为中心高速旋转。
