英语口语讲解：打开和关掉电源

Please turn off the power.
請把電源關掉。

Turn on 跟 turn off 算是最常見到把電源打開和把電源關上的字眼了。例如你可以說 "Could you help me turn on the microwave?" (能不能幫我打開微波爐？) 或是 "Please turn off the power before you leave." (請在離開前把電源關掉。) Turn on 和 turn off 是一對很好用的片語，務必熟記。

但是如果今天換成另一種情況，我想說︰「不要關掉，讓它一直開著。」這句話要怎麼講呢？很簡單，你可以說 leave the power on 或是再偷懶一點說 leave it on。比方你回家前可以交代同事， "Just leave the printer on when you leave." (你們走的時候不要關掉印表機，讓它一直開著好了。)

Throw the power on.
打開電源。

這跟 turn on the power 是一樣的，但是 throw the power on 是比較口語的說法。比如說你進到房間看到電腦沒開，你就可以跟別人說，"Throw the power on." 就是把電腦打開吧！不過因為受到了中文的影響，有些人可能會把打開電腦說成了 "Open the computer." 但在老美聽來，這句話感覺上像是要把電腦拆開，而非你所要表達的打開電源的意思。

The power is running low.
快要沒電了。

電快要用完了叫 running low，例如你使用的刮鬍刀看它越轉越慢，你知道電快沒了，你就可以說 "The power is running low." 或是 "The battery is running low." 要是電已經完全用光了，則可以說，"It's running out of power." 或是直接了當地說， "The battery is dead." (這個電池掛了。)

其實以上的這些講法不只侷限於電，幾乎所有的東西快用完了，我們都可以用 be running low 或是 be running out of 這兩個片語。比方說茶壺裏的水快喝完了，你就可以說，"The water is running low." 或是 "We are running out of water."
